My last day at job #2 was this past Sunday. It is a bittersweet end. I was proud of myself for the track record I had while I was there. I got to hang out with the husband and I had something to keep my mind busy while I went through a rather rough phase.
However, I did start slacking on my running and working out, which irritates me to no end. Running and working out had become such a huge part of my mental well being. It literally helped me sleep better at night and have a better attitude during the day. Not to mention the increased self esteem I had from looking better. I was able to carry both jobs and running several miles a week and doing strength training for a few months. Actually, I held it up for the better part of the last year, however there came a point where I would put my "all" into running one week or out everything I have into working another week.
Well, I am proud to say that today marks the day where I get back on track. I am kicking things off with a yoga class. I think that is a good start because it is a little lower key and will stretch me out some. The class that I picked out is with an instructor that I have never taken a class from and it is a type of yoga that I have never done before, which makes it exciting.
Like millions (or billions) of other females in America, I am re-starting a weight loss program. I hate being this on-again, off-again cliche', which is why I have to get my whole life back on track.
By the way - I have some family coming in 2 weeks that I have not seen in years. I want to be in a little better shpae by then (no miracles in 2 weeks). If anyone wants to engage in a challenge of sorts, please let me know. We can post pictures and compare pounds or body fat or something. Or maybe a 'miles run per week' thing. Let me know!

Work...Or Not
Wow, it has been a long time. I guess spring brought along lots of things to my To-do list and I have been doing all of those things instead of blogging. It has been quite a long month and an even longer couple of weeks. My cousin passed away and because she didn't pass of natural causes that ended up being a very consuming week. That brought along a lot of thoughts, feelings and arguments from all sides of the family. It is hard to deal with the death of someone who should not have died.
I had the flu for only the second time in my life. I don't get sick a lot. In fact, I barely ever get sick besides a migraine headache. This was different. My throat felt like a shower drain stuffed with hairballs and sludge, my ears sore and it sounded like water was slushing around in them. The water noise caused a headache, of course and my body just ached, in general. Between my cousin's funeral and me being sick I ended up taking a few days off work. it makes me feel like crap when I have to miss work.
Because of some of these things going on in my life coupled with some things going on at work (both jobs), I asked to take a leave of absence from my second job. I won't bore you with the details but what actually happened was I put my notice in to quit my second job all together. I didn't want to do that. I mean, I am OK with quitting, but I like that job. That's my job. I rule that job.
I need a break. I need a break bad! I am OK with quitting because I don't really need the job, but the money is nice. More importantly than the money, I like having something to do. On the weekends, because I know I have to be at work the next day, I stay out of trouble. This job has been therapeutic for me. I feel like my husband likes me more because of that job. It is something else that we have in common that draws us together. Also, if I didn't work there and know the ins and outs of it, I never would have made it through this economy with my sanity with my husband selling cars for a living.
But working every day at one job or another gets tiresome and I need a break. I feel like a failure for quitting though. I was using the money to help build a savings account for emergencies and that account is not to the point that I hoped it would be at before I stopped working. I am comfortable with what is there, I just didn't meet the goal I wanted to meet. That bothers me.
What is done is done. Coincidentally, my last day will end up being my 1 year anniversary - to the day. I didn't even plan that.
Now I am going to start going back to yoga and really start running again. I am going to get up on Saturday mornings and clean house. I will play with the dogs more and take them for walks. I will do all the things that housewives do, except I will still have my real job. I just feel like maybe that isn't enough.
I plan to really work hard and make what money I can for the next two weeks. I will also try to get used to the idea of not working after that. Hopefully, I will get rid of this guilt of not working before I actually stop working! My hope is to pick up enough hobbies to feel justified. If this doesn't work then I will explore options to get another second job. Would that be a second, second job? That might not go over well with the husband. Ugghhh, I hate being a grown up!

Uncomfortable
I normally get along with most people I meet. I think most people would describe me as easy going. In fact, a friend recently said I am accommodating, which I am not sure is a compliment or not.
At work, there is a lady whom I really don't want to be around. This is at my day job so it is a smaller office with not a lot of people, which makes it difficult to avoid this person. When I first started working here I was OK with this person and we had several conversations and I thought she was pretty nice. However, as time has gone by it seems that she is THAT person who always has a better story or has had a worse experience. She also has a bad habit of interrupting when someone else is speaking. Sometimes I don't make eye contact with her so that hopefully she won't start a conversation with me. This is so bad!
I don't want it to be like this. I don't want to feel uncomfortable trying to avoid someone at work. On the flip side, I don't want her to be uncomfortable either. I hope I do a good job at not letting her notice that I don't like talking to her.
Here's a story for ya. I usually get to the office at least 30 minutes before business hours. Once, she came in about 15 til and asked me to go out and get her a sausage biscuit because she didn't have time to stop on her way to work. Now, if we are still 15 minutes from the start of work and if I have time to go get a biscuit, wouldn't she have had time too? I did go get her biscuit. I am not sure why, but I did.
This morning, she calls me on my desk phone and asks me to help her with the kitchen. Not knowing what she would need help with I comply. She brought doughnuts for the office (very nice of her) in honor of the return of a coworker that has been on medical leave for a while. She needed my help to get paper plates out of the cabinet. Seriously. There was nothing else. I got the plates, put them on the table next to the box of doughnuts and told her I was trying to finish a project (which I should be doing!) and came back to my desk.
As I said before, she is a very nice lady - no question. For some reason, I just don't click well with her. And I have no idea why she makes these odd, unreasonable requests from me. Or why I oblige them!
I know that I could have worse problems. I have definitely worked with less desirable co workers! My plan is to only speak to her when she speaks to me. Maybe that will politely indicate that I don't want to be social with her. Honestly, we don't have a very social office. No one here really goes out of their way to know anyone on a personal level. Which is sad (or good). But, maybe this lady won't think I am treating her any different than anyone else. This makes me feel so immature though!
Leave me a comment and let me know if there is a better way to handle this. It is not as though she is unbearable or anything but similar to an itch I can't reach to scratch.

Running, Eating, Saving and Smoking
Running is not going well. Neither is not eating chocolate. The weather is perfect most days, but I have not been able to get into gear. I have run a few times, but it is not spectacular. I have my eating in check again, except for the chocolate, which I am just going to have to deal with. (Really -I am not upset about that!) I am sleeping all the time again and it is causing me to drag during the day. When I get off of work I just want to go back to sleep and the cycle continues.
I have fallen into the habit of going out to eat for lunch and dinner on the weekends at work. And, my husband is a great cook. He makes all the fatty, fried, stuff with creamy dipping sauces. Yumm! I am getting back to resisting the temptations though. I am not horrible on the food. I am going over on my calories, but the quality of food has progressively gotten better. One step at a time, right?
On another note, my debt relief program is going well (despite the gobs of money spent on fast food.). I have one account paid off and next month will start on one of the cars. With the majority of this debt being car debt, I think I will be able to really feel the progress once one of the cars is paid off. I am trying to put a certain number of dollars in the savings account each month and right now it looks like that amount might be short for April. My first pay period for March at my 2nd job was not what I have budgeted for savings. In January & February I was a little over my monthly goal so hopefully it all evens out. Yes, I realize that it does not make sense for me to have money in the bank while I have balances, but this is what works for us. We like the cushion for peace of mind because my husband's income is 100% commission based on car sales. I don't think I have to explain our anxiety!
I don't know about you guys, but I am sick of all the financial talk and the recession and things going bad. It feels as though I have cabin fever, but there is no way to get out of the house. I can't wait until all this starts straightening out. I am praying for all those who are dealing with loss of income of loss of a house, etc. Everyday I am on the verge too, which is why I am scrambling now.
Maybe we should all smoke a *j* and eat brownies for a while. Nah, that won't work. We will just wake up sober and fat. I can handle sober but I can't handle starting over!
Oh yea, speaking of smoking, my husband is trying to quit smoking (again). I think he has a good start this time and it seems he really wants it. I will be so proud of him when he kicks this habit. Not because of all of society's views (I can't be hypocritical. I am a recovered smoker.) but because I know it bothers him that he has not been able to quit. So, along with all the people dealing with life right now, my heart goes out to him as well.
Good luck to everybody.

Upward and Onward
For the second half of the month at the dealership, I have not had a lot of sales. I have been kind of frustrated with it and was going to go in to work a couple of extra nights last week, but the wreck kind of got in the way of my regular life last week. I had to work Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Friday I just wanted to go home from my day job and go to sleep. I was not in the mood to go to work. I went in and got nothing. Ughh! I was so mad. Saturday we were so busy we could not keep up with traffic. Saturday, I got nothing. My husband, however, sold two cars on Saturday. I was so mad!!! I went home Saturday night, had a beer and ate ice cream for dinner. I was a big baby about the situation, really.
Normally, we are not too busy on Sunday so I went in with the attitude that I was going to go in and whatever happens, will happen. My husband and I even went to lunch about an hour after we got there because we just didn't want to be there. Shortly after we got back from lunch I sold a car. Whoo hoo! I took another couple of customers after that and sold another car. Whoo hoo x two!
I am back on the upward swing with my sales, it seems. On the other hand, still no workouts to really speak of. We tried out a new place to eat and it was so delicious we ate there twice over the weekend. We also ate out a couple of times in addition to this new place. As I mentioned earlier, I had beer and ice cream for one meal. Plainly, I am doing great with looking descent in Vegas in a few weeks. HA HA HA HA!
I know this has nothing to do with anything else I have written here, but let me just say that I love waking up next to my husband in the mornings. During the week when I have to get up early, I miss not being there to wake up with him. OK - enough mushy stuff. Have a good day!

Back in Business
Last we spoke, I was on my way to the company Christmas party for my second job. I was hoping to win an IPod or NotPod (MP3 Player) of some kind. I am sorry to report that I did not win one like I wanted to. BUT - I did come home with one! I won a Garmin GPS system and traded for a Phillips NotPod. Whoo hoo!
I am so happy because I went there hoping to come home with one, but when we got there I realized that people brought their kids and grandkids and friends and next door neighbors, and basically, there were too many people there for me to have any hope of winning one of the 3 grand prizes. But, YEAY!
Anyway. Enough bragging. Looks like by the end of this week at the latest I will not have an excuse not to be running. My leg is only a bit sore. After running Saturday, I decided not to run again until I am sure it is healed. I am tired of not being able to make a full effort and I am probably making it worse and definitely extending my down time. Now that I have new tunes I can't use that as an excuse either. Well, as long as I can figure out how to use it!

Dessert!
We are having a dessert contest at one of my jobs. I love to eat dessert, but I am not a baker. Cooking in general is not something that I am the best at. I love to do it when I have time and for special occasions, but desserts are not my specialty by a long shot. I can, however, follow a recipe quit well so I asked around for ideas and here are a few of the recipes I got:
Charlie Brown Cake - By Ruth Dean
First Layer: 1 3/4 c flour
3/4 c nuts (pecans or walnuts)
3/4 c oleo, room temp
Blend mixture and put into the bottom of a 9x13 pan. Bake at 350 for 12 to 15 min. Then cool
Second Layer: 8oz pkg cream cheese
1 c powdered sugar
1 1/2 c Cool Whip
Whip cream cheese & sugar together. Add Cool Whip. Spread over 1st layer
Third Layer: 2 pkgs instant chocolate pudding
3 c milk
Mix pudding with milk. Pour over cream cheese layer
Fourth Layer: Spread Cool Whip over top and sprinkle with nuts. Refrigerate overnight!
Saucepan Brownies - By Candi Brown
1c Butter 1c cocoa 3c sugar 6 eggs 1 1/2 vanilla
2 1/4c flour 2 1/4c flour 3/4t salt 1 1/2 chopped nuts
Place butter and cocoa over low heat in 4qt saucepan. Milt, stirring frequently. Remove from heat and stir in, in this order: Sugar, eggs, vanilla, flour, salt and nuts
Pour into greased and floured 10 x 15 1/2 x 1 pan and bake at 375 for 25-30 minutes
Cool and cut into squares or bars
Fresh Fruit Dip - By Jackie Hallen
1 16oz cream cheese
1 small jar of whipped marshmallow
Mix ingredients together. Refrigerate for a couple of hours, if preferred. Dip strawberries, bananas, and apples or any other fruit
All of these look like really yummy recipes. I went from not having a good recipe to enter with, to having too many to choose from! That's OK though. I love it. I will make all of these at some point with so many functions going on between now and New Years!
If anybody has any good dessert recipes, feel free to hand them over!

Prosperity
In these times, I think everyone is nervous about one aspect or another of their financial stability. Or, maybe not. I have to admit that I have always been supremely confident in my career and my job - almost to the point where I am foolishly confident. But, I won't lie. I am rattled.
Exactly a year ago in December I changed jobs, doing the same thing just for a different company and a little more specialized. So specialized that I have been working in my field of insurance for almost 10 years and I started something I was not familiar with. I have gotten more acclimated over this past year and I am better with what I am doing.
However, I do not really have a close relationship with anyone I work with, which is not a big deal. I don't get jobs for social status, but it helps to be in close enough with someone that you can get their perspective on things that happen. I was also the last person to be hired, so I will definitely be the first person to go if it gets to that point. As far as I can see in the year I have been here, my position is not really necessary, which is scary in itself.
On the other hand, I do work for a great guy. It seems like it would be a last resort, but I could be looking through frosted glasses and not see the whole picture. Just in case I am going to do everything I can to make myself lucrative in every aspect of my life. I will be the cream that rises to the top, not the grit that falls to the bottom.
Granted, I do have a second job - but it is selling cars, which as we know is not doing extremely well right now. I do work for a dealership that is not hurting as much as others. but, my husband's income is derived solely from this dealership, so we might both be in trouble soon.
So, the worst scenario for me is to lose my day gig and be holding on with 1 1/2 half assed incomes. I guess that's better than some I know at this point though.
What irritates me is that the media is perpetuating the majority of this crises and what is not true today might be true tomorrow because the media pushed the rumor. When Obama takes office in January I believe the media will push for the sunny outlook and things will appear to be getting better, when in reality, it isn't as bad as they are making it out to be right now and it won't be as good as it looks then, but that's the media for ya. Hopefully, more people will be able to adjust to these hardships and we can even out and go back to middle ground and rebuild.
In any case, I wish everyone luck and prosperity in the days/months/years to come.

Hopefully, more people will be able to adjust to these hardships and we can even out and go back to middle ground and rebuild.
In any case, I wish everyone luck and prosperity in the days/months/years to come.

There is no mention of running or working out here...
Whew! I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving. We did not have as many people this year, but to compensate we had more food! I don't know how this logic works out but it was good. I was disappointed that we did not have some of our regulars. I am a big family/friend person or maybe I just think it is all about me, but I like having everyone together. I think that is what it is all about.
Friday morning I did get up at the butt crack of dawn and go shopping. I went to Target, Pottery Barn, Williams Sonoma, Old Navy, and the mall. I have to say that I was disappointed in the retailers this year. The sales were lacking; I didn't find any super deals or anything. In fact, the only thing I did buy was clothes. I am always fine with getting clothes, so all in all it was good.
I had to be at work Friday afternoon, so after shopping it was showering and out the door. The previous 2 paragraphs were expressing my disappointment, however, I was not disappointed in work. We were surprisingly busy! I did not get a sale, but I did have a customer request to transfer in a vehicle. Whoo hoo! So, hopefully, that sets me up for a sale on the new pay period.
Saturday and Sunday were kind of the normals. Still, both good days. I hope everyone else can say the same.
Goodby Thanksgiving... Hello Christmas!

Do you Care?
Saturday was one of the most frustrating days that I have had since I started selling cars. It seems like all the customers I had were dead ends. There were a couple of kids that just wanted to walk around and play in cars. I had a couple of customers who asked immediately if you have to have money down to buy a car. Just an FYI - that is usually a clue that someone can not get financed. The last customer of the day that I had was a couple who needed a hatch back car so they could haul some type of papers. (I know, huh? People have some of the weirdest reasons for buying cars. My husband had a customer once that had to have a standard transmission because people wouldn't car jack you then. (How does the person know if it is a stick or automatic before they jack you? Also, whose to say a car jacker won't know how to drive a stick??) Anyways. After that day, I needed a drink... But then, when do I ever not need a drink?
Saturday night we went to play pool with my brother-in-law and a few friends. I have not really hung out with my brother-in-law and one of the other guys in a while because they hang out with someone that I am trying to stay away from. I have to say that it was a but awkward for a minute.
In my effort to make casual conversation, I think I made one of the guys mad. He works at Starbucks and I made the comment that I have never been to Starbucks. I don't drink coffee. I realize that they sell other stuff besides coffee, but Starbucks is not even on my radar when I am looking for something to eat or drink. I don't eat fast food that often anymore anyway. About 10 minutes after having a conversation about Starbucks and how much he looovvveeesss it and I have never even been there, we had a conversation that went like this...
Me: "So, what is your favorite thing at Starbucks?"
Him: "Do you care?"
Me: "I am sorry, I was just trying to make conversation. Never mind."
Him: "Well, it isn't like you are gonna go there."
Me: "Sure you are right. Never mind."
Him: "Well, why do you care?"
Me: "Just making conversation. Just drop it. I am going to get another beer. Do you want one?"
Well, you get the point. Another awkward conversation with someone that I was very close to at one time. I should learn to just keep my mouth shut and not speak to these people unless they speak to me first. To be honest, I don't really give a shit what his favorite thing at Starbucks is. He is a funny guy and I like hanging out with him, so I thought I would make conversation. I didn't expect the attitude. I won't make that mistake again!

Strange Noises
I am sitting in my office at 7:54 this morning, goofing off for another few minutes before I get serious about work and I think I heard the guy in the next office pass gas! Or, fart, or whatever work you want to enter here! Dang! This is a gassy office!
When I first started working here, I was a smoker. There is only one other person who smokes so me and her would go outside together for a smoke break. She had the walking poots! HAHAHA! It is hard to ignore when there are only two of you. It took all the self control and restraint to keep from laughing. This happened more than once, too.
The guy in the next office burps all the time. That is not as funny as when he farts though! Hopefully, something better than this will happen today though!

Zombie & Pur Evil

Rob Zombie needs to make another movie or album or something. I love his music and his movies are at least original horror movies compared to what the "mainstream" horror movies are. (Even his re-makes are original in creativity, I think) I feel that we need a gory, weird movie to kind of break up the monotony. I wonder what he has been up to lately. Think he will sit in the corner of my bedroom and tell me bedtime stories?
On another note, I went to Nashville for a training class last weekend. The 3 hour drive there gave me some of that boring "think" time. What I thought about was really of nothing important but because I was by myself, I was able to observe some things. For instance, why is it that if you try to pass somebody on the interstate, they will all of a sudden speed up? Is it a power thing of not being passed? Do you get your man card punched if you get passed on the interstate?
I came up behind someone in the left lane who was driving 65mph (the speed limit is 70!) Don't you hate that? I rode behind him for a minute thinking he would get the point and move over, but I guess the joint that him and the guy in the passenger seat were passing must have been much more interesting. (I am quite certain that it was, by the way! I could never compete for attention with a joint!!). When he didn't move, I went into the right lane to pass but all of a sudden he speeds up to 80.
OK, fine, I got back over behind him because I was coming up behind someone in the right lane going slower. No sooner than I get over he is doing 65 again!!! UGHHH! After 10 more freakin minutes of 65mph I try, again, to pass him. Same thing happens. He speeds up to about 80 -85mph. I move back over and he starts going 60. At this point I am tired of looking at his "PUR EVIL" license plate, so I step on it and move to the right lane. He speeds up to 85 and I keep going to 100! I just want around him. Mr. Evil is not going to turn my 3 hour drive home into 3.5 or 4 hours! NO WAY! I am so much more evil than him. I am female! That, in itself, is evil enough.
In order to avoid a devastating crash with the blue Ford Taurus that I am speeding up behind in the right lane, I whip back over in from of Mr. Evil, kind of cutting him off. Of course, he drops the joint and flips me off. Ha! Go, figure. He was too stoned to know that I tried politely to pass him twice and he also failed to notice that he pissed me off severely by not knowing how to drive!!! I am sorry that he was not coordinated enough to hold on to the perfectly good joint, though.
By the way, if this guy (who was kind of nerdy) has a license plate that says "PUR EVIL" what license plate do you think Rob Zombie has? I know he deserved a "PUR EVIL" tag waaayy before this nerdy guy who can't drive! Marilyn Manson has one that says "GOTH THUG" which fits him quite well, I think. Maybe, Rob's says "I HAVE A REALLY HOT WIFE AND YOU DON'T ." Think all that fits on a plate? haha
So, the moral of the story is.... Learn to drive! And, don't piss me off! Don't you know who I am? I am kind of a big deal around here!
Also, If anybody has any plate ideas for my car, please let me know. I am interested in this now! HAHA Have a good day
